MS Acc09.170 comprises papers documenting the music career of Jack O'Hagan. The papers include business and personal correspondence, lyrics, music manuscripts, notes, radio scripts, publications, theatre programs, newspaper cuttings, a scrapbook and published music, largely of O'Hagan's work. In addition, there is a scrapbook of Jack O'Hagan memorabilia compiled by Ellwyn Wilford of Allan's Publishing, and papers relating to O'Hagan created by Keith Watson, a music collector. The latter include scripts, photographs, programs and videos of a musical tribute to Jack O'Hagan written by Watson, and a manuscript of a book on O'Hagan by Watson (5 boxes, 4 music boxes, 2 fol. boxes). The Acc10.172 instalment comprises typescripts of lyrics and shows, news clipping albums, printed and draft music scores of O'Hagan works, correspondence and a copy of "The Jack O'Hagan story" by Keith Watson (2 fol. boxes).

Composer, lyricist, pianist and songwriter. John Francis (Jack) O'Hagan was born in Melbourne in 1898 and began his musical career as a "song-plugger" at Allan's music store.
